Visual images of Individuality
This image shows a huge crowd all moving in one direction, presumably the popular route, or the familiar route. There is one man wearing blue who signifies the individual of the group. The man in the blue chose to leave the group and blaze a path of his own. The ironic thing about the man in the blue leaving is that as he leaves, people follow him. These people in the green are so brainwashed into following that they have no ambitions other wise. The man in the blue is the only true individual because he left on his own, he is he leader of the followers. The message to me is that just because you stop following one crowd and start following another, it doesn't make you any different than you were before.
This painting is so beautiful to me. All of the trees are different, some taller, some shorter, sone thinner so more wide, and all different colors. This painting represents people, showing that no one is the same. No one acts, looks or feels the same, but there is so much beauty in that. Being different is being yourself, and being yourself is the most beautiful anyone can be. Self love is a very important factor to being yourself, and knowing that everyone is beautiful no matter what they look like can boost your self esteem. I absolutely love this little passage. "To be in power, you must take your power and exist within your own individuality," sums up my whole project so perfectly. Power comes from within you, you make it when you become an individual and you realize that you have. "Power lies in individuality and the ability to see yourself through your own eyes and not the eyes of another," is another great quote. The quote is telling you to be mindful of how YOU see yourself and how you feel about yourself as opposed to other's opinions, then you will achieve great power. Power is acquired from individuality, and the American Dream is in essence power and money, therefor proving that individuality is at the root of the American Dream. Walking in the footsteps of others means conforming, and conforming means not taking your own life into your own hands. Following others won't change the world, it will just keep the world the same as it always has been. Making footprints of your own means changing things. |
