Conformity vs Individualism Experiment
This was an interesting experiment done by a high schooler named Sabrina Skarsgard about whether or not people will conform. The experiment is that there are 3 people who serve as the control, and one person who is the experimental subject. All of the subjects are asked a math question, and they must respond in the order that they are sitting. The three controls all sit in a row, and the test subject sits at the end. The three controls all say the wrong answer three times in a row to see if it will screw the last person up. In almost all of the test results, the test subject said the wrong answer because the others said it and they were just conforming to what had already been said. Some of the time, the test subject KNEW it was the wrong answer, but they said it anyways because they didn't want to be wrong and not conform with everyone else in the group. This experiment shows how it is human nature to conform to other people, even if we know its not right. We must figure out whats right as individuals, and not conform to other people's wrong answers.
